This voluntary recall involves only the The First Years� American Red Cross Cabinet Swing Locks detailed below. These were sold by U.S. retailers nationally by retailers and on the Internet, including Toys "R" Us, Babies "R" Us, and other retail stores from December 2008 through September 2010 for about $4 per pair.

Please have your Cabinet Swing Lock nearby as you review the information below. If you determine that you have one of the affected Cabinet Swing Locks, please immediately remove the latches from cabinets and discontinue use of the products. After removing the latches from cabinets or drawers, consumers should take special care to store any hazardous items out of the reach of children.

How do I know that what I have is recalled?
The Cabinet Swing Locks subject to recall were sold two to a blister pack card which bears the item number Y7181. The products subject to recall can be identified in several ways:
  • An American Red Cross logo and the words “cabinet swing lock” are printed on the package.
  • "American Red Cross" is molded onto the front of the lock.
  • A product date code is printed on the bottom of the back of the package and on the back side of each latch just above the connection point.
In order to view the product date code, simply remove the latch. The date code is printed on the back side of each latch just above the connection point as highlighted in the images below. The affected items have a date code that ends with "FUL00."
